Fence Repair Cardiff
Repairing wooden fences depends entirely on what's gone wrong. For minor problems, such as loose boards or popped nails, we can tighten everything back up or swap out damaged components. It usually takes an hour or two, and you're sorted.
Rot's more complicated. Once timber starts rotting, especially at ground level where moisture sits, you need to cut out the affected sections and replace them with new treated wood. We always seal the new pieces properly to stop the same thing happening again in a few years.
If your fence is leaning, that's often the posts giving way. We had a job in Llanrumney last autumn where three panels were leaning into next door's garden after heavy rain loosened the soil around the posts. Sometimes we can add support braces as a temporary fix, but depending on which way it's leaning, those braces might need to go on your neighbour's side. It's worth having a conversation with them before we start; it saves awkwardness later.

Fence lifespans
What Type of Garden Fence Lasts Longest?
If you are unsure which replacement fence to go for, composite and metal fencing last the longest, typically 20 to 25 years with minimal maintenance.
The Welsh climate plays a big role here. We see pressure-treated timber fences in Whitchurch and Llanishen lasting well into their second decade, while cheaper dip-treated panels in exposed spots like St Fagans might need replacing after seven or eight years. Your budget and maintenance preferences matter just as much as longevity, but looks play an important role too.

We can help you decide which type of fencing suits your needs, and once you have chosen, we make sure only quality manufactured materials are used. Firm posts let the panels be set in tightly, which minimises movement and any damage it causes.
